De jaarlijkse single cask releases van Plantation (voor Nederland) staan weer voor de deur en verwachten we half oktober. In februari waren we op bezoek bij Plantation/Maison Ferrand en hebben we ook onze eigen single cask release geselecteerd. Die introduceren we op zaterdag 22 oktober. Plantation Single Cask Australia 12yo 2009 Palo Cortado Sherry Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (45%)

De Plantation Single Cask Australia 12 years old 2009 Palo Cortado Sherry Finish Bottled for the Netherlands is een 12 jaar oude single cask rum van Beenleigh Artisan Distillers gebotteld door Plantation speciaal voor de Nederlandse markt. Deze rum is van molasses gedistilleerd in 2009 en heeft 11 jaar gerijpt in bourbon casks in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en daarna een finish van 4 maanden in een Palo Cortado sherry vat. Deze Australische rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 45% met 0 dosage.

Official tasting notes:

Nose: Fruity on pear, mandarin jam, grapefruit zest and dried apricot. Spicy notes of pepper, cloves, cinnamon, anis and pistachio with oxidative and vinous touches of the palo cortado.

Palate: Well balanced between the rum, oak and the sherry on chocolate, almond, cherry, blueberry, banana, bitter orange and some elegant rose notes.

Plantation Single Cask Barbados VSOR Port Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (45%)

De Plantation Single Cask Barbados VSOR Port Finish Bottled for the Netherlands is een 5 jaar oude ‘Very Special Old Rum’ van de West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados gebotteld door Plantation speciaal voor de Nederlandse markt. Deze rum is in 2016 pot en column still gedistilleerd van molasses. Deze heeft 4 jaar in bourbon vaten gerijpt in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en daarna een finish van 4 maanden in een port vat. Deze Barbados rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 45% met een dosage van 10 g/L.

Nose: Delicate and balanced, it opens on vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg with fruity notes of dry fig, raisins and plum with roasted chestnut and strawberry in the background.

Palate: Light and fresh, on peach, raspberry, bergamot with peanut, cumin and coffee.

Plantation Single Cask Fiji Islands 20yo 2001 Rozelieures Whisky Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (46%)

Plantation Single Cask Fiji Islands 20 years old 2001 Rozelieures Whisky Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands is een 19 jaar oude Fiji rumv an de Rum Co. of Fiji distilleerderij gebotteld door Plantation speciaal voor de Nederlandse markt. Deze rum is in 2001 pot still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 19 jaar in de tropen gerijpt in bourbon vaten gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en daarna een finish van 4 maanden in een Rozelieures single malt whisky vat. Deze Fiji rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 46% met 0 dosage.

Official tasting notes:

Nose: Very intense, it starts with custard and banana flambé, followed by aromas of peach, hazelnut and quince with some seaweed. It then evolves into marzipan and orange.

Palate: Very tropical, gently smoky and fresh, mostly on passion fruit and citrus with tons of vanilla and fresh herbal notes, like mint and eucalyptus. Mineral on charcoal.

Plantation Single Cask Guatemala VSOR Pineau des Charentes Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (43%)

De Plantation Single Cask Guatemala VSOR Pineau des Charentes Finish Bottled for the Netherlands is een 3 jaar oude ‘Very Special Old Rum van de Destiladora de Alcoholes y Rones distilleerderij gebotteld door Plantation speciaal voor de Nederlandse markt. Deze rum is in 2018 multi-column still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 2 jaar gerijpt in bourbon vaten in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en een finish van 4 maanden in een rode Pineau des Charentes wijn vat. Deze Guatemala rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 43% met een dosage van 15 g/L.

Official tasting notes:

Nose: Elegant and balanced profile of wood,allspice and fruits, a nice mixture of honey, orange blossom, black currant, coconut and vanilla . Then it evolves on banana, apricot and nuts with some flowery notes.

Palate: Rich, first sips show some varnish, pineapple and plum cake. The next ones are even fruitier with hints of sour cherry and gooseberry with delicate rose petals balanced by more peppery notes.

Plantation Single Cask Guyana 14yo 2007 Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (51%)

De Plantation Single Cask Guyana 14 years old 2007 Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands is een 14 jaar oude Guyana rum van de Demerara Distillers Limited distilleerderij gebotteld door Plantation speciaal voor de Nederlandse markt. Deze rum is in 2007 pot still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 13 jaar gerijpt in bourbon vaten in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en een finish van 7 maanden in een Teeling wihskey vat. Deze Guyana rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 51% met 0 dosage.

Nose: Rich, woody and spicy on cloves, cinnamon and pepper with tar and smoky molasses with roasted chestnut, berries and thyme honey.

Palate: Round and fruitier on orange, peach and plum with maple syrup and leather.

Deze rum is in 2008 column still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 12 jaar gerijpt in bourbon vaten in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en een finish van 7 maanden in een wit Pineau des Charentes vat. Deze Panamese rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 45% met dosage van 5 g/L.

Nose: Fragrant, fruity and flowery, it starts on vine flower, lilac and lime, with apricot, peach and plum and hints of honey, almond and vanilla.

Palate: Fresh and sweet, it follows the nose with fruity notes of orange, figs, quince with hazelnut, pepper and cinnamon.

Plantation Single Cask Panama 9yo 2012 Pauillac Wine Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (50%)

Deze rum is in 2012 multi-column still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 8 jaar gerijpt in bourbon vaten in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en een finish van 10 maanden in een Pauillac wijn vat. Deze Panamese rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 50% met dosage van 12 g/L.

Nose: Intense and complex, flowery on iris and rose, fruity on blackcurrant and dark cherry, with woody and smoky notes of cedar and frankincense and hints of tobacco, coffee and vanilla.

Palate: Sweet on blackberry pie and dark plum with the minerality on pencil lead and velvety tannins, it develops on bigarreau cherry, toasted bread and violet with balsamic and peppery notes.

Plantation Single Cask Trinidad 13yo 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (48%)

Deze rum is in 2008 multi-column still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 11 jaar gerijpt in bourbon vaten in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en een finish van 9 maanden in een Sauvignon Blanc wijn vat. Deze Trinidad rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 48% met 0 dosage.

Neus: Fresh and fragrant, it starts with fruity, flowery and grassy notes on citrus, honey, broom, hop and black currant bud. It then evolves on spicy and woody notes of vanilla, pepper, curry, box tree and nuts.

Palate: Sweet and delicate on banana, passion fruit and gooseberry jam with green apple and green pepper.

Plantation Single Cask Trinidad 10yo 2011 Sauternes Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands (43%)

De Plantation Single Cask Trinidad 10 years old 2011 Sauternes Cask Finish Bottled for the Netherlands is een 10 jaar oude Trinidad rum van Trinidad Distillers Limited distilleerderij gebotteld door Plantation speciaal voor de Nederlandse markt. Deze rum is in 2011 multi-column still gedistilleerd van molasses. Vervolgens heeft deze 9 jaar gerijpt in bourbon vaten in de tropen gevolgd door 1 jaar in Ferrand vaten in Frankrijk en een finish van 3 maanden in een Sauterness dessertwijn vat. Deze Trinidad rum is gebotteld in 2022 op 43% met een dosage van 5 g/L.

Nose: It starts with a very fruity profile of mango, citrus, quince with delicate notes of acacia honey and vanilla.

Palate: Rich and complex, it follows the nose with pineapple and peach, beeswax, toasted almond and butter with hints of ginger and cloves.
